Galactic Republic of Calorn®The Private Place Caleus and I jumped the Eagle to Earth and arrived there in orbit beside one of the Vulture vessels. The Earth was dark and blocked the view of a few stars in that direction, but a blue-white crescent, which grew larger as we watched, showed to the east side of the black sphere of the Earth. In a few seconds we saw the black spot of the sun, which was surrounded by a circle of white light, appear from behind the Earth. This would be early morning for the people who lived on this side of the planet. My former home, and country, was 100 thousand miles away and north of the equator where the Vulture hovered in a synchronized orbit with the Earth. "I'm going below and get some rest, Caleus," I said, "We didn't get much sleep last night you know!" "Go ahead, Caleb. You need a lot of rest after what has happened to you, but I think I'll stay here for a while." I got to my feet and found that I was still a little weak, but I walked over to the green circle and stepped out onto the apartment deck. When I walked into the apartment, I picked up a water packet and drank the water. Then I went into the bedroom, fell on my bed and went straight to sleep. I slept for 12 hours before Caleus woke me by thought-speak to make sure I was all right, so I sat up on the edge of the bed and rubbed the sleep from my eyes. Then I rose to my feet and touched the panel on the wall to materialize the cleaning-toilet and went inside the blue column. I had had some bad dreams in my life but nothing like the ones I had in that 12 hours. The impact of so many alien minds had left my mind filled with strange conceptions of shapes, like: Vertical floors to walk on, horizontal walls, round square pegs in oblong holes and other concepts that didn't make sense. There was one thing, though, that came through clearly. I now know what the evil ones looked like. The evil ones were slim and stood over six feet tall on two short legs with cloven feet, and their two arms were four feet from their slim shoulders to the tips of their long six fingered hands. Their head was round and bald, and on each side of their head, about where our ears were, a short black horn curved upward to a point. In the center of their gray skinned forehead were three black beady eyes, each shaped like the number six, set in a triangle, two above the one below. The rest of the gray face was blank of any openings, except for a small vertical slit above the pointed chin. If they had been red skinned, I would have believed they looked like the devil himself. When I came out of the blue column, Caleus was in the bedroom with me, and she said, "Caleb, I have found the most beautiful place in this galaxy! Come with me and I'll show you," her face was aglow with excitement. I said, smiling, "Okay, Caleus, what have you been up to while I was asleep?" She took my hand and pulled me toward the doorway into the living room, "I'll show you, Caleb, if you'll come with me?" I followed her out of the apartment and there was a blue scooter setting on the deck just outside the doorway, "How did you get that up here?" I said, not believing my own eyes, "I know it won't fit in the green transport column." "I jumped it to here with my mind," Caleus said, grinning from ear to ear, as she sat down in the right front seat, "after Micro told me how to do it. Now come on and sit down and I'll show you what I found." I sat down in the scooter beside Caleus and the apartment foyer vanished. We were now under a blue sky and above a green forest that stretched out in all directions for as far as I could see, and off to the left the blue Eagle hovered above this forest. "What planet are we on, Caleus? Earth?" I said, wondering if she had lost her mind to bring the Eagle down to my planet. "No, Caleb, this is one of the Creators planets that we are to take care of," she said, smiling, "Isn't it beautiful? But this is not what I want to show you." Caleus flew the scooter down through the tops of the trees, which were a lot larger than I had first thought, and into a shadowy open area below their high limbs, and there was mist in the air that made the rays of sunshine, which darted through the fluttering leaves high above us, look like bolts of lightning as they plunged into a small crescent shaped blue lake below. The mist came from a small waterfall that cascaded down a slope of rocks into one pointed end of the blue lake. Caleus landed the scooter on a green grassy shore about fifty feet up the lake from the waterfall and a few feet from the largest tree trunk I have ever seen. The trunk of that tree was more than a hundred feet in diameter. Caleus stepped off the scooter, and said, "What do you think of this place, Caleb?" she turned slowly around in a circle, "Isn't this the most beautiful place you have ever seen in your life?" I lifted myself from my seat and stepped off the scooter, "I believe you're right, Caleus, and I'm really impressed by the beauty of it," I said, as I turned to touch one of the long stemmed white flowers that grew along the edge of the water, "How did you ever find this small spot in such a large forest?" "This place is not unique on this part of the continent. There's many more places similar to this one everywhere in this forest," Caleus said, "The Creators set aside this planet for their pleasure trips and, for the last few million years, the Micros have kept the planet just as it was then." "I see!" I said as I walked over to the tree trunk, "You have been a very busy girl while I slept, haven't you? Where is this planet in relation to Earth and Jade, Caleus?" "A very long ways away from both of them, Caleb," she said, smiling, as she sat down on the short grass and lay back against the scooter, "This planet is 61,245 light years from Earth, and it's 68,204 light years from Jade, but it's only 11 light years from the Creator's home planet." I placed my hand on the smooth bark of the tree and said, "Why did you bring me here to this place, Caleus? Are you lonely for the outdoors, or do you want me to make love to you here in this very romantic setting?" I had turned and was looking at her, and she turned red in the face. Caleus was blushing. "Caleb Thorn," Caleus said, furiously, as she got to her feet, "you can just go to hell! I think I'll just leave you here on this planet!" she sat down in the scooter, and the scooter vanished. "No fury like a women scorned," I said, grinning, as I walked over to the edge of the water and picked up a few flat rocks and skipped them across the quiet waters of the blue lake. A few minutes later I heard Caleus say behind me, "I'm sorry I got mad, Caleb, but you shouldn't make fun of me." I turned and said, "I'm the one who should say I'm sorry, Caleus. I just don't know how to approach a woman anymore. It's been many years since I've had to court a woman to get her love." "I know, Caleb," she said, as she moved up against me and lay her head on my shoulder and placed her arms around me, "It's been a long time since I've been courted, too." I hugged her to me and said, "This is cozy, Caleus, but with the new bodies we have, you may get pregnant." Caleus raised her head from my shoulder and smiled, "No I won't, Caleb!" she kissed me on the chin, "We have complete control of our bodies now, so if we don't want me to get pregnant, I won't. I also won't have those regular periods as before until we decide to get me pregnant." We kissed then and the suits vanished from our bodies, so we spent the rest of the daylight there in that beautiful romantic place under the giant trees. Darkness had crept into the forest as Caleus and I flew the scooter up through the leaves and headed toward the Eagle. The sunset had all the colors in a rainbow, so I stopped the scooter and let it hover above the forest while we watched in silence as the black spot of the sun slowly sank below the horizon. Then, I jumped the scooter to the apartment deck of the Eagle. That evening, I told Caleus what the evil beings looked like, and she said that on her planet they believed there was a devil, and the evil beings description sounded very close to what they believed the devil looked like. Caleus and I were on the planet, that we had named "Enchantment", for eight days before Micro told us, "Four vessels have entered this galaxy. Two of them entered where the one that was destroyed entered, and two entered 278 light years away from the other two. The four vessels will arrive at where the alien vessel was destroyed in one half hour." Caleus and I ran to the scooter and jumped it to the control deck of the Eagle. After we sat down in the control seats, Caleus said, "We had better get the two Hawks from Jade and Earth to help us this time, Caleb!" "Yes," I said, "I believe we're going to need there help to fight four alien vessels at one time. But we may blow our lie about the Galactic Republic of Calorn, Caleus." "We can deal with that after we stop the evil ones," she said, "I'll contact the Hawk at Jade and you contact the one at Earth, all right?" "Okay, Caleus," I said, then I said by thought, "This is Captain Caleb, can you understand me, Bill Stewart?" Bill's name was the only one I could think of at the moment. "Yes, Captain Caleb, Sir," Bill thought-said, "I can understand you. May I help you, Sir?" "Yes you can, Bill. I want you to get of all your crew together in the Hawk and jump the Hawk to.... Just a second Bill," I thought-said, then I asked Caleus, "Shall we meet the two Hawks at the planet Sustenance in ten minutes, that will be half way between Jade and Earth?" "All right, Caleb," she said. "Okay, Bill," I thought-said, "Jump the Hawk to a planet named Sustenance, and the Eagle will be 100 thousand miles above the planet." "Where is this planet, Sir?" Bill thought-asked. "Just enter Sustenance on the dent panel and touch the GOTO dent, and you will be there, Bill. I want you there in ten minutes, so get going!" The Eagle set in space above the food-water planet Sustenance and on each side of the blue Eagle were the two black Hawks, which had arrived there only a moment earlier. Caleus and I explained to the two crews of the Hawks why they were here, and how our three vessels were going to battle the four vessels of the evil beings. Once this was explained to them, we had Micro jump all three vessels to the spot where the four alien vessels would converge. "Caleus, you operate the Eagle and the weapons here and I'll take a seat at the back of the control deck and operate the weapons there, okay?" I said and got to my feet. "All right, Caleb, but don't try to contact them with your thoughts again! You may not live through it the next time, and I wouldn't like that," she smiled and blew me a kiss. I sat down and brought up the dent panel and the viewer. Watching the viewer intently, I saw the four red dots, which were the alien vessels, come closer together until they were one. Then, I sent the order to the Hawks, by thought, to fire their Gravity-Imitator beams at the four vessels. This time the GI beams stopped the alien vessels, and now they set out there in space at the end of our three vessels' GI beams like four puppets on a string. "Okay, Captains," I said, "let's bring them a little closer to us." When we started to pull the four alien vessels toward us, two of the vessels vanished in a giant blast, and then another one did the same. They had done the same as the first one had done. The aliens had killed themselves with their own weapons. The last alien vessel was pulled closer and we stopped the huge red sphere a mile away from us. The aliens aboard this vessel must have realized that to use their weapons would be fatal. The crews of the two Hawks asked us what had made the other three alien vessels explode, so we told them how our GI beams had reversed the alien's weapons back at the aliens. Then Caleus and I discussed the situation as it now stood. "How are we going to tell the aliens to stay out of this galaxy if we can't communicate with them, Caleb?" "I'm not sure, Caleus, but if we could jump their vessel out of the galaxy, maybe it would show them that we don't want them here. What do you think, Caleus?" "Micro, can you jump the alien vessel back toward where ever they came from?" Caleus asked. "No, but we can give them a great push in that direction. The push will move them a little faster than the speed at which they came to here," Micro said. "Okay, Micro, that should tell them something," I said, "Do you want us to release the vessel?" "That will not be necessary, Caleb," Micro said. "All right, Micro, do it now," I said, and I saw the vessel vanish from the viewer and from outside the Eagle. "Where did the alien vessel go to?" were the thoughts that came from the two Hawks. "You tell them, Caleus, I can't think of any good lies just now," I said, as I rose from the rear seat and walked forward to sit in the control seat beside her. "Thanks, Caleb," Caleus said, frowning at me, "but I'll think of something!" she paused, then said to the crews of the Hawks, "The alien vessel was jumped out into the void of intergalactic space by a special weapon that only we have. We do not believe in killing our captives, so we use this weapon. The aliens will live, but it will take them many years to return to this galaxy," Caleus looked at me and said, "How was that answer, Caleb?" "Damn good, Caleus!" I said, grinning, "I believe you told them the truth except for the 'many years' part; however, that may become true too if the aliens understand why we sent them back toward their home, and if they do, they won't return." "I tried not to lie too much, and we do have a special weapon that they don't have. We have Micro," Caleus said. "That's right, Caleus," I agreed, "Now, I believe we should have the Hawks jump back to their planets, so we can finish our vacation on Enchantment." "After we send them home, Caleb, we should go out and get the gold that the three vessels were made of. It may come in handy some day, don't you think?" Caleus said. "You may be right, Caleus, but I can't think of what we'll ever use it for," I said. We told the crews of the two Hawks to return to their worlds and to continue training new crew members. After the two Hawks vanished, we used the GI beam to bring all the gold aboard the Eagle. Then we went down to the hangar deck to look at the gold. The pieces of the first alien vessel were still scattered around the Dove where we had left them, but the gold from the other three vessels was out at the edge of the hangar deck next to the thick hull of the Eagle, so we used the Dove to retrieve all the gold and placed it in a large pile next to the green column. The red chunks from the first vessel were piled next to the gold; we didn't bring in any of the red pieces from the last three vessels. "Okay, Caleus, what are we going to do with this stuff, now?" I asked, as we walked out of the Dove. "Micro, store these two piles somewhere in the Eagle until we ask for them," she said, grinning at me. The two piles vanished, and I said, "Smart! Yes, you are very smart, Caleus," tapping my temple. "Women have always been a little smarter than men," Caleus said, and stepped into the green column. I caught up with her on the control deck. We embraced and danced around the deck; then, we sat down and jumped the Eagle to Enchantment, so we could spend a little more time on that beautiful world. After four more days on Enchantment, Caleus and I decided to go to the Creator's home planet, and find the library there, to see if our Passes would open the private room where all the knowledge, which the Creators had assembled in their life times, would be taught us. We jumped the Eagle to the planet I had named Calorn, but we arrived in space outside the atmosphere of a gaseous planet the size of Jupiter. "Micro, where is the Creator's home planet? I know it can't be this planet," I said, puzzled. "This is where the Creator's home planet is, but what you see is a deception to protect it from being found by the evil beings," Micro explained, "Travel slowly through the deception and you will see the planet." I drove toward the swirling clouds of this huge planet until the immensity of the planet's size almost made me turn back, but at that moment the Eagle popped through the clouds into empty space, and an Earth type planet set in space 8000 miles ahead of us. I heard Caleus let out her breath as if she had been holding it for a long time, then she said, "That nearly scared me to death, Caleb!" "Same here, Caleus," I said, "The next time we come here, we'll jump past the deception." "No one may emerge inside the deception," Micro said, "If one does try, they will be sent back instantly to where they were." "Not even you, Micro?" Caleus asked. "Not even we may get past this deception without first being identified," Micro said. "This is quite a defensive set up for one planet, Micro," I said, "Were all the Creator's planets protected as well as this one is?" "Yes," Micro answered. "Earth wasn't!" I exclaimed. "Neither was Jade!" Caleus said. "They were protected in this manner only when the evil ones were in the vicinity of the two planets," Micro said, "After the evil ones left this galaxy, the Creators removed the deception from only those two planets." "Okay, Micro, that explains that. Now, Caleus, let's go down to Calorn, the home planet, and find the library," I said. "Where did you get the name, Calorn, Caleb?" Caleus asked. "Listen to the first and last syllable of our full names and add the sound of the letter l to the center and you hear ka-lorn," I explained. "That sounds all right," Caleus said, "but how did you know that my name was Caleus Melorn before I arrived on Sustenance?" "I didn't know your name. The Pass must have chosen you because your name was similar to mine, I guess," I said, "I was just using my name when I thought up the name, Calorn." Caleus was quiet for a few seconds. Then she said, "You're right Caleb! I was chosen for my name as well as I was for having all the Creator's genes." "I'm glad it chose you, Caleus," I said, as I reached over and squeezed her hand, "Let's go find that library now, okay?" "All right, Caleb, let's do that." she said. We flew the Eagle down through the atmosphere of Calorn and, with Micro's help, found the library on a small island off the coast of a large continent. Calorn's sun was just setting when we set the Eagle down on a large blue oval slab that was attached to the small black oval building that housed the library. On the other side of the oval building was a wide bridge that came from the mainland and ended at another oval slab a lot smaller than the one we had landed on. "Did you see that city over there when we landed, Caleb? It must have stretched out away from here for hundreds of miles." Caleus said, pointing toward the oval building where the sun had gone down below the horizon. "Yes, I did, and we'll have to take a better look at it in the morning, but right now, I want to look inside that library." I said, as I stood up and walked over to the scooter and sat down. Caleus picked up her Pass and came over to the scooter and sat down beside me, "It's not going to do us any good to try and get that knowledge yet," she said, "because Jade and Earth are not fully protected as the Father said they were to be before we could obtain the knowledge. Anyway, I'm not sure I want all that knowledge." I jumped the scooter from the control deck to the blue surface beside the oval building, and said, "I'm not sure if we can get into the private place, Caleus. But we may need all the knowledge we can get if we are ever to defeat the evil beings for good." We stepped off the scooter and walked over to a brown depression in the wall of the building, and Caleus said, "I know you're right, Caleb, but too much knowledge may change us into something I don't even want to think of." "I can't believe the Creators would give us this knowledge if they thought it would change us, Caleus. At least, I hope not," I said, as I placed my Pass into the brown depression. A section of the black wall, to the left of the blue oval Pass, turned green, and in the center of the shimmering green arched section were some words in the Creator's language which read: "Those who enter this portal will be forever thoughtful". I touched my Pass in the center and it slid out of the depression into my hand. Then I said, "Well, Caleus, I don't think we have anything to worry about. Let's go in and see the library." We stepped through the green arch and stepped into the center of an oval room, which was four or five times the size of the small building. We had stepped through a transporter. In the center of the room, where we stood, was a green transport column and from there to the black walls, which were loaded with black ovals, were many clear-glass desks and black seats setting on the glowing blue floor, and the ceiling glowed white. "Micro, where are the two depressions that will open the private place when we place our Passes in them?" I asked. "They are under the two ovals, which have the history of the Creator's school system recorded on them, at the north side of the library," Micro said. Caleus and I turned to our right and walked across the blue floor, around the desks and seats, to the north wall. Then we searched the names on the wall below each cubicle, which indicated what each oval had recorded on them, until we found the two ovals. "Caleus, let's each take an oval out and place our Pass in its place. Then we'll see what happens." I said. Caleus nodded her head and took one of the ovals from its cubicle and waited for me to do the same; I did, and then, we both placed our oval Passes in the small cubicles at the same time. As both Passes turned blue, the black wall split between the two Passes, from the white ceiling to the blue floor, and spread slowly apart revealing a shiny metal plate embedded in a dingy concrete wall. The metal plate had some words engraved in its shiny surface, which read: "Touch this plate my children and our thoughts will be your thoughts!". Caleus and I reached out and touched the cold metal of the shiny plate; then, we both jerked our hands back as an electric shock tingled the ends of our fingers through the black gloves. At that moment, Micro's thought-voice said, "Two hundred alien vessels have entered the outer most part of this galaxy. They are now stationary, but the vessels are spread out at four hundred light year intervals in that section of the galaxy where the other five alien vessels penetrated." "Two hundred vessels!" Caleus said, in dismay, "How are we going to fight that many alien vessels at one time?" "I don't think we can, Caleus. At least, not with just the three of our vessels we can't." I said, "But what if we put some of the people from the two Hawks' crews in each of our Condor vessels to fire the weapons. That would even up the odds a little don't you think Caleus?" "That same idea came to my mind as you were talking. I think we can win the fight if we have at least one hundred vessels, and I believe there is that many people trained by now." Caleus said. "We'll have to come back later to find the private place, so let's close up this wall and get back to the Eagle." I said, as I stepped over to my Pass. When we took our Passes from the cubicles, the wall closed, and we placed the two history ovals back in their dents.
